Default Upcoming GvG Update

http://eu.guildwars.com/news/article...guild_changes/

Quote:
With the annual battle between Grenth and Dwayna fading into the past, it seems not even Balthazar’s domain is untouched by spring cleaning. Prepare for a batch of updates to Guild Battles through February and March. These changes will offer more people a chance to participate and achieve while giving the best guilds new options for customization.

Most immediately, Balthazar is retiring the engravers and hiring tailors. February is the last chance to get your guild name on a trophy. Winners of future MATs will still show up in Tolkano’s reports, but the 2013 trophy will be moved to the display dais in March, and Tolkano will step to the center of the Great Temple of Balthazar. While battling for this chance at inscribed glory, more guilds will be able to work on their Champion title, as we’re easing the rating requirement from 1200 to 1050.

Also starting in February, we’re adding new ways for guilds to acquire cape trims through tournament participation. Instead of earning temporary bronze or silver trims through the MAT, guild leaders with enough Tournament Reward Points can speak with Tolkano to trade those points for the permanent trim of their choice from a variety of new and stylish colors. Permanent gold trim will still be awarded exclusively to the winner of each month’s tournament; it will overwrite any previously purchased trim color.

The Monthly Automated Tournaments are shifting to the third weekend of the month. This will naturally avoid most major holidays and allow players to determine the date of the MAT without waiting for Tolkano to announce it. Though we’re keeping the current Daily AT rotation for now, we’re working toward implementing a 21-hour rotation, ensuring a few things: times will vary more on adjacent days, a tournament will fall on each hour of the day once per week, and times will naturally be static from one week to the next.

Finally, we’ve seen the market has been hard on those seeking Celestial Sigils. If you’re not having luck with the local trader or The Hall of Heroes, you can now get the occasional drop from a Zaishen Strongbox. Alternately, Jessie Llam will trade them for Gold Zaishen Coins. You can always count on the Zaishen to fill a need, particularly if it gets more people in the battle.

It's really cute that no one in the company can be arsed to do ten minutes of work a month to give trims out.

Changing the daily AT rotation is probably going to be doing more harm than good to the one active segment (Europeans).

bah, gold z coins for a simple GH.... i wont use overprices stuff

as for gvg, plz leave it... the pve side needs alot of attention, do THAT before more people leave

as proof: "Jessie Llam will trade them for Gold Zaishen CoinS."

plz anet, dont make the community more elitism than it already is

or let pve sigils (with pve GH's, with maybe disbaled pvp stuff) be 1 silver coin, or 200g at merch

bah, elitism is gonna win again... i see the community leave again (not all, but alot of em)

(havent they learned by now?)
(changing a GH should've been easy... AND CHEAP, by now)

In part i agree with you, there's no need for guild halls and such things to be super expensive luxuries, or for them to be tied into PvP rewards.

On the other hand, elitism is probably at an all time low as people are finally opening doors and breaking down barriers to try and increase what little activity is left within the game. At least in PvP. If anything, elitism is more prevalent in high end PvE than PvP nowadays.

Also, the majority of major updates over the last 4+ years have been PvE orientated. Usually followed up shortly after by a minor PvP update to try and fix some of the crap storm that ruins PvP by introducing a load of overpowered PvE skills into the arenas.

I truly cannot tell if your post was entirely serious, or just an elaborate troll, but claiming that arenanet should ignore PvP further, and focus more on PvE, when they have almost solely concentrated on PvE updates for a number of years to the major detriment of the rest of the game, either shows you're ignorance regarding the subject, or that you haven't been playing for very long.

Case in point would be the previous 4 major profession/skill updates over the last say 2-2.5 years. A mesmer update, a dervish update, and 2 elementalist updates. None of these updates benefitted the PvP side of the game whatsoever, and were based entirely around the wishes of those players in the PvE community. As a result the PvP members of the test krewe (myself included) spent hours and hours trying to fix the mess created with the help of Robert Gee from arenanet. I never had a problem with this happening, thats clearly the direction anet want to take and so be it... but claiming PvE doesnt get enough love, and PvP gets too much, is laughable.

pvp isnt half as important as pve, and i didnt say pvp gets too much attention, but pve needs more right now, since they already cant do much in GW, thx to GW2's need of devs

from all people i've seen all these years (not just the people i really knew, but all i've seen), almost all play pvp for either a reward, or for fun, and then return to pve

pve is what the game is bought for, and in any MMO its that pvp is a side thing, so that you show off your builds after you learned about how to use skills

i dont say pvp should be dead (before you jump to that conclusion), but pve needs more attention, which is why they made splits and pve only versions... but the current team, has done stupid things to pve skills (like nerfing both versions cuz of pvp), and didnt pay attention to why the team had to change ele skills, which is to make them MORE effective

so i think they gotta watch pve more, and once they can, release elona content
so if they first give us more good stuff in pve, while waiting with pvp, they will make more people happy, than the other way around

also, ALL people i have seen leave GW, was cuz of dull pve, NONE left cuz of pvp

its only good if they give pve more love than pvp, but they still/again nerf skills to make pvp better (dunno if that happened), without the proper way by making splits

if you think pvp is more important in an MMO, then you should see more people around, and see where they are going

i dont mind if they give pvp a change once in a (big) while, but they should first fix problems pve has (NOT by making everything easier, but more fun)
and if they got the resources, pve should at least get more content
maybe more bigger changes to pve (dunno what they can and will do, but should be a nice thing to the pve community)

companies made pvp-only MMO's for a reason, and GW isnt one of those kinda games, just saying

Guild Wars has a huge attraction by being able to PvE and PvP and switch back and forth.

No. You're wrong. Look at how the game was created. You play PvE. It teaches you PvP mechanics in PvE. And you PvP at the end of the PvE. Do you have characters that you can create that are "PvE Only"? I would bet you can make characters that are "PvP Only".

I am going to guess from looking at your ignorant post(s) that you don't PvP. Chances are you don't have any friends who are top 50 players (pretty low requirement these days). Therefor you can't possibly have any knowledge of the subject. Do you even know what a the "power creep" was? (I'll give you a hint: It had everything to do with the introduction of new campaigns and unbalanced new characters)

Yeah. Those players went to GW2. Guild Wars PvP has always been super important to the game. It is called "Guild Wars" for a reason.

You're so clueless it is ridiculous. How many PvE competitions have there been that involve flying PvErs to game conventions to compete for 50,000$ prize money?

You realize there are players who have zero PvE characters and purely just PvP right?

You are so uninformed, biased, and ill-advise it is alarming that you make posts like you do.

Get your head out of your ass. It's not a fvcking hat.

Guys, Girls, Its, ... Anet is giving us an update post-GW2, it's great news!
It doesn't matter if you PvP or not or not in favor of this partucular update,
it's a clear sign that GW1 is not abandoned

yes it is GOOD NEWS EVERYONE.
(as the game was set up orginally to be a pve-->pvp game, which didnt quite happen ).

I LOVE ANY update that we are getting on gw--be it gvg (my guild of one really cant participate) pvp (not a fan, but I understand the need), pve, heck, even when they get around to updating the login screen and wiki its a cause for celebration nowadays!!!!

so
CELEBRATION TIME all around!!
(my guild would really like a guild hall...I get tired of having to go to others to use my crates )
and I cant wait to see the new trims...sounds good to me (hope it looks better too)

The update exists so that they're obligated to do even less work on GW1. If anything, they're abandoning it even more.

Yeah they look to be making everything automated so that they can be fairly hands off and focus on GW2. That's kind of sad to hear really.

That's as sad as true Wonder if there's anything left in game that isn't automated, at this point....

While it might be true, I still rather think positive.
If they didn't care at all of GW1 they wouldn't even bother with this update.

At this point, making the supposedly automated processes like trims and map rotation actually automated would be a huge achievement.

They are going for the short term quick fix, eventually after a couple of months its going to die off again and realize(or already have) they have nothing else left to give.

Really 95% of the old players left almost half a decade ago+, they are only doing this update to cater for the new batch of people, sadly which won't gain much momentum.

tbh, i'd think its great
if they automate more stuff (NOT everything), they can work more on GW2, and some can come back earlier than otherwise, to GW

but if people keep talking in a negative way, they may harm the newer community, and maybe avoid people to join, meaning more has to be automated, and less new stuff will come

i hope anet will show up more, just to talk a bit about GW, and what ways they are going to.... so dont need to say what they have in mind, just keep us waiting for more nice stuff, by saying that new (also new BIG) stuff will come, like elona's new content, once they can do it, just not when, or what it'll be like
and dont need to say it IS that kinda content, just that something nice is coming up, and in case of content, they could say "something huge is coming up"

all they gotta add is: it will take a while, but it will be awesome, and based on the whole community (or something along those lines)

i wouldnt mind more automated stuff if it means getting bigger stuff earlier than otherwise

When you get to the hardest missions in Prophecies those being in the Crystal Desert. This where you start to learn how to watch the timer and to execute whatever strategy you have. The reason being is because after Dragon Lairs was The Halls of Heros before it became Heros Ascent.

I much preferred it at ToPK.

those missions were based on pvp stuff, so that people can learn a bit about pvp
BUT.... the game is based on pve... or do you think 3 missions make the whole game?

that we have 3 missions based on pvp, but is NO pvp, may make people (well, back in the old days) try pvp, and those parts of pvp
but i never saw that, most newbies or players who barely played who needed help, mostly say: what weird/stupid/annoying/boring missions they gave us

i heard they wanted to base GW more on pvp when it was new, but it didnt happen like that, as most people play more pve

anyway, i personally hope they wont spend too much time on pvp stuff, as pve has way more fans than pvp has (or are there more people in pvp than in pve? dont think so)

the only pvp update i'd love to see, would be 100% splits between pve and pvp.... once they got GW2 on track, and can start coming back with some of the team, to continue GW

ps. i dont think they are the hardest missions, even with bonus (not counting HM, as that didnt exist back then), and most people told me that THK was the worst back then, without heroes
